Wed, April 16, 2008 - 3:54 PMI strongly advise anyone associated with Grandmother Drum to consider the horrible nature of what she is doing.
As a Nez Perce tribal member, we have seen many people over the years claim their Native American history through "past lives" or through "visions" then have started whole capitalist pursuits. Please do not lend credence or respects to this woman.
Our cultures are meant to be shared, not taken and used for a personal agenda.
If I started wearing a funny hat and robes and called myself the Pope, would that make me the spiritual leader of the church down the street?
If I made my own statue of Buddha and made up a story about how and why I made it, would that make me a Tibeten Buddhist? Absolutely not!
Don't be so disrespectful to the Native People of this land by giving a woman who's credibility has fallen to the wayside any more attention. I have met "Native Survivalist" "Native Healers" "Shaman" and "Medicine People" that have little or no connection to the native communities these people say they represent.
If you agree with the ideas of Grandmother Drum, then it is likely you are being misled. Thank you.
