Peeved With How Earthdance Miami is Going

I'm a bit peeved.

I did not attend Earthdance this year because, here in Miami, they moved it to this swanky hotel on the bay and I utilize public transportation, and the bus route that passes that location does not after a certain hour. My friend, however, attended, and she reported to me that the feeling has changed. A lot of the people were snotty, a lot of the vendors rude, and the atmosphere went from being down-to-EARTH and friendly -- indicative of years-past--to a sort of fru-fru-shi-shi affair.

Frankly, that is not in-keeping with what Earthdance embodies.

Has anyone else experienced this in their neck of the woods?

Earthdance Vancouver Hosts 2nd Monthly Global Synchronized Meditation,Sat.May 16, followed by dancing

In April of this year Earthdance International began a series of global synchronized meditations over ED Net on the Earthdance Community Network website with an inaugural event in San Francisco. This month the meditation will be live broadcast online from East Vancouver's Dharmalab situated near Hastings and Commercial Drive beginning at sunset hour of 8pm Pacific time. Hosting it will be the Tribal Harmonix community who have been doing the Earthdance Vancouver events for many years. We welcome all people around the world to tune in and share in this synchronized meditation with our live web broadcast here on ED TV.

As the sunsets we will have a brief introduction by DIY Dharma to share about their approach to meditation inspired by the work of Noah Levine. A peer-led Buddhist meditation group for geeks, freaks, queers, rebels, outcasts, stream-enterers and their friends. The one hour live broadcast will include meditation, some singing bowls and a global Unity blessing by Surya between 8-9pm Pacific time.

As moderator of this tribe I request that you list your events as Event Listings as opposed to TOPICS since this Earthdance based tribe is getting over-run with NON EARTHDANCE events. Sure they may be related-this goes for political postings as well but please let's all keep this primarily a place oriented towards Earthdance specific events, experiences, and thoughts.

I'm not going to be on constant watchdog about this but i will delete posts when this tribe gets too heavy with non-Earthdance events. Be warned;)

one of the many girls on stage in the electronic dome

I wish I could find pictures from that night. I was up on stage the whole 3 days dancing in the electronic dome REALLY late at night. And I want to find pictures but I can't find them any where from this years earthdance... it seems like it takes along time for anything to get up .

A 23-year-old San Francisco woman attending a Laytonville concert stabbed herself in the abdomen after taking a hallucinogenic drug, the Mendocino County sheriff's authorities reported Monday.

Witnesses at the Earth Dance Festival said the woman began acting strangely after taking a dose of LSD, said Sheriff's Lt. Rusty Noe. Before anyone could restrain her, she stabbed herself in the abdomen with a large knife, he said.

The woman was flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. Her condition on Monday was not known, Noe said. The sheriff's office did not release the woman's name because the incident is considered an attempted suicide, he said.

Take Hwy. 163 South to the Park Boulevard Exit, make a left at the stop sign and a left at Presidents Way. You may also park in the large lot to the east of Park Boulevard.

We have secured 400 acres of private land along the Toutle river just outside of Toutle Wa.
The site features:
Amphitheatre
Nice large flat field surrounded by large groves of trees with plenty of room for camping and parking.
A short walk through the forst leads you to the bank of the river with over a mile of river front to choose from.
A very short drive to a couple of lakes for swimming, boating, fishing, whatever you please!

The event will be 1hour north of Portland, 2hours south of Seattle , and about 2 1/2 hours from Eugene.

Directions for the event will be listed here on the earthdancenw tribe, and also will be on the website and infoline the Thurs. prior to the event.

Gates open on the 14th at 6pm and the music starts at 8!!

$30 dollars for the entire weekend, $20 for just Sat and Sun. available at the gate.
Kids free as long as they are with an adult.
Please no drugs, alchohol, fireworks, glass, or dogs.

Earthdance Perth, Australia 2006

Here's a review thread of Earthdance Perth. This was our first fully legal psytrance based music festival. It was almost a year in planning and gathered togetger over 2000 people. The prayer for peace was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had. Next year will be bigger and better for sure. The owners of the site it was held on - Fairbridge Farm - were more than impressed by how easily the whole process evolved, from start to finish, without a hitch, not to mention how peacefull and lovely all the people were.

Capitalism & Peace?

Can peace and capitalism reign together, or must one be subverted for the other to survive? I often wonder about this because it seems that to keep up with feeding the capitalist beast, it has to keep searching around the globe for cheaper labor and dwindling natural resources that leave wars, bloodshed, racism, xenophobia and environmental degradation in its wake, all these characteristics are, of course, not conducive to peace. Yet, many of our government officials continue to reconcile the ideology of peace with Democracy and a capitalistic frame work? Could there be a new way?

What do you guys and gals think?

What iz it about da festing, celebrating, and egniting of our spirits that we can take back into our communities after da Summa Fests go into hibernation?
I'm frugal by nature and i spent a large amount of my finances on da great gatherings of tribes this year. what i've decided iz dat i want to bring those vibrations, inspirations, and funds actively into our community.
So, my idea to start with iz "Phun-raising". which iz totally not an original idea and iz not exactly mine. However, i would like to introduce the "Chitari Foundation", it means Meeting Place in Napalese. There iz a 10 acre property in Oregon City that has been donated to be used as an integrated hospital, permaculture, educational, intentional community! Whew!
There iz no structures as of yet and that is just a matter of funds. i have more info. concerning this on my profile if anyone wishes to learn more or one could visit their website www.chitari.org. however, i'm not clear on the status of the website, but you can e-mail them with any ?'s you have.
So, my request for any locals is to check this out if you're interested and if you want to contribute energy, time, resources, or $$ have your people call my people and we'll do lunch!

Comments on 2006 Theme

I am excited about this years theme, the world unity flag and especially the honoring of elders and indigenous peoples. Here in the Lower Mainland of BC we are donating towards a group of aboriginal elders called Elders Speak Wisdom that i found out about years ago. Turns out they were definitely in need of cash to help with their travels to events throughout BC. They seem excited about being given attention from our dance community.

Also i managed to find an elder thru a friend who will be our special guest this coming weekend named Ben who is responsible as an activist for gaining us Canadians our health care. I love that Earthdance inspired me to make these connections as it is something i feel is of great value to us younger generations. Ben is 92 so this is an opportunity to not miss.

Here's to all the Earthdances internationally creating greater connection with our elders and indigenous peoples.

I live here on the North Coast. But I have some land up in Washington that needs a good home.

This place is way out of sight up on a hilltop that is situated way up in Ferry County in North East Washington State and is near water and National Forest lands.

It is a very private and sunny 10 acre piece of land with a view that would make a great Self Sustainable Solar Powered Homestead for someone who wanted to start putting some roots down in one place and to build their own natural home in a place that has few building restrictions.

The land is nicely situated way up high on a grassy hilltop with a great view overlooking the beautiful Kettle River valley and then across to the mountains on the other side.

It is about 5 miles north of the historic little town of Curlew on highway 21 up in the northern end of the county and it is near tribal lands and other good folks in the local community.

Good building sites, almost flat in many places, Trees out behind and not too far from the year around creek below and within a short walk out back to a National Forest that extends way up the mountain behind you and with grassy fields to the south and below and at a relatively Low Elevation of only 2500 feet you may be able to grow almost anything there and it is a nice sunny spot that is perfect for Solar Power. You will need to put in a well, eventually. There is power and there should be phone lines nearby. It is not that far out but I would stay off the grid and out of sight.

I just want to find a good home for this place since I am committed elsewhere and can't get away. But I live off the grid myself on all Solar power and have been doing so for over twenty years on raw undeveloped land as far as the cocunty is concerned and that means very low taxes stay in place long term. They don't see a house, they don't tax a house.

Consider this to be a solid investment that has real intrinsic value and that you can actually retreat to and live when you retire or on in any time of need or as a place to bring together around to create a community. - T

DOES PEACE MEAN LETTING persons BLOW UP OUR HOMES and CHILDREN? WHAT DO WE DO?

Do you think that peaceful people have to be complacent/pacifists.

Not that I am against the pacifist movement, but it just seems that although I agree with many of Ghandi and MLK's philosophies on WHY they were standing up against the system, I think that when the system is using VIOLENCE on our children, homes and dreams, we have to SLAP back.

Slap me: Shame on me.
I Slap you: Shame on you for "picking the bloody fight". :-)

In other words, as long as we respect each other, and let each other live without trying to steal each others OIL, DIAMONDs, GOLD, LAND, WOMEN, etc, then everything is cool. But if you try to take my resources, don't I have a right to protect myself and my family. Of course, the world media would then find a NEGATIVE label for me, and make reverse the "media and matrix" created psychology to make me seem to be a bad person, thus justifying when they blow up an entire village, town or COUNTRY. (In the above, the ME could refer to any father, son, uncle, grandad, or even mother/sister, etc, who is seeing their homes, villages, families blown to bits all in the name of "Imperial Democracy"! What a bunch of "word play" while people are being killed with the backing of most of the world's religions!!

Thus my name online: 1PeaceWarrior, I'm all for PEACE but never without my WARRIOR skills just in case Peace needs a bit of Backup.

People who self-identify as "barefooters" tend to be those living in developed countries where going barefoot becomes a symbol of freedom and health among other things. I’m living in India – it’s almost six years now that I’ve left Europe for good – and I’m used to a life on bare soles: I haven’t worn shoes since December 2000 (with a few exceptions!) and I don’t think I’ll EVER imprison my feet again! I'm always barefoot: All-year-round, wherever I go, whatever I do. Most of my friends have never seen me wearing shoes…

WHY? That’s a question I’ve heard a thousand times. Well, it’s not a kind of “fashion statement”… Yes: There are quite a few “barefoot celebrities! Model Travis Fimmel not only does most of his modeling in bare feet, but says he goes barefoot almost exclusively. Singer Henry Rollins often performs barefoot on stage. Singer Lenny Kravitz has said he feels no need to wear shoes or socks. Singer Richard Ashcroft appeared barefoot on stage at Live8. Actor Sean Astin arrived at a film premiere in bare feet. Actress Julia Roberts is known as a person who loves to be barefoot. She has appeared barefoot in several of her movies. Actresses Liv Tyler, Nicole Kidman and Cameron Diaz have walked barefoot on the red carpet at their own movie-premieres. Model Pamela Anderson is often seen in magazines, walking around barefoot in her hometown. Singer Shakira is often barefoot on stage, as well as in her music videos. Singer Deana Carter performs barefoot. Same with Joss Stone, Kelly Clarkson, Mandy Moore… Britney Spears gained some notoriety by going barefoot into a public restroom. She has since frequently been seen going barefoot. Designer Genevieve Gorder almost always went barefoot during the series Trading Spaces on TLC. Zola Budd often ran barefoot in competition… No doubt: Barefoot is “in”! But if it comes to ME: It’s not very important that wearing no shoes is fashionable! I’ve different reasons for “keeping ‘em bare”…

Walking barefoot is AMAZING!!! If you’re barefoot you’re able to FEEL the ground! Would you wear gloves all-year-round? Nopes! So: Why shoes? Being in touch with Mother Earth, letting the energy flow freely isn’t that bad, after all… Right? Plus: It’s very refreshing and stimulating (ever heard about the reflex zones in our feet?)! Join me for a rather longish hike, preferably in the mountains, and let’s see who gets tired first! Walking barefoot is stimulating: In every sense! There’s more: The ecological impact is far less dramatic (erosion!) if you’re hiking in a natural environment (ever thought about what your heavy hiking boots do to the ecosystem?). It’s also communicative to a degree you wouldn’t expect: Travelling a lot I’ve made more than one friend explaining WHY I’m roaming around barefoot! Somehow you’re more defensive, less aggressive if barefoot… There are many aspects, but what really counts is the sensual factor: The “barefoot feeling”! It’s not only about feeling the ground beneath our soles, every change in texture or temperature, the difference between lawn and concrete, tar and marble, but also about feeling free – in many ways! If you don’t know what I mean: Leave your shoes at home and experience the freedom, the freshness, the air touching every inch of your feet… Try it once and you’ll never want to wear those “little prisons” again!

How did it all begin? I’ve been barefoot since my schooldays, but not every day, not everywhere… It was a winter morning back in 2000, just after Christmas: I was ready to board my flight to India. My feet were already bare while I was waiting for the train which would take me to the airport. The air was a bit chilly, and I noticed a couple of people, staring at my feet, obviously unable to believe what they saw: A pair of bare feet, decorated with a leather-anklet and a shiny little toering… I didn’t know that I was about to leave Europe for good, returning only occasionally for short visits. But I was ready for the big adventure: Spending many month on the road, exploring almost every nook and corner of India on my bare soles – from Kanyakumari to Gangtok and from Gujarat to West Bengal… It was SO much fun! I didn’t even carry any shoes in my backpack, and soon, my soles were tough as leather! Finally, the unexpected happened: I managed to settle down in India! I’ve been able to live my life barefoot ever since…

India – it STILL means: Bare feet EVERYWHERE, especially in rural areas and the South, but also in cities and parts of the North! And I don’t think that will change within a lifetime! Half of the people in my neighbourhood (a typical “mixed area” in Bangalore - with modern houses and traditional enclaves side-by-side) are barefoot throughout the year! Dusty bare feet, immune to the heat of the summer, to sharp gravel and other hazards are so common a sight that you’ll hardly notice them anymore after a month or so. It’s true: I’m still getting attention for my lack of footwear, but not because I’m barefoot but because I’m a FOREIGNER (“ferengi”) who is barefoot. And reactions are almost always positive…

Living barefoot 24/7/365 I’m spending lot’s of time travelling, and I’m ALWAYS travelling barefoot. It’s an exciting experience to roam around without any footwear in my backpack, trusting in my leather-like soles toughened over many years. And it’s definitely the most environment-friendly way of travelling, especially if it comes to activities like hiking in ecologically sensitive regions (e.g. the Indian Himalayas)! For those of you being concerned about health issues: I’m living barefoot for more than six years now, and I didn’t face ANY problem – except having to remove a little thorn from time to time, but even that happens rarely!

The mere thought that somebody out there enjoys travelling throughout India – and many other countries! - without ever wearing any kind of footwear (except one or two anklets and a toe ring!) might seem strange for some of you… But giving it a second thought you might even get inspired! Inspiring you to give it a try, to experience the joys and the freedom of travelling - and living - barefoot – that’s my goal, that’s why I’m posting this! Is travelling barefoot difficult? And is it worth it? To answer these questions, let me share my latest barefoot experiences with you:

Four days ago: It’s time for my annual trip to Europe! I’m leaving Bangalore early in the morning (at 6 am), happy to escape the South Indian monsoon – which wasn’t really impressive so far, but things might change in August! My flight with Gulf Air involves a 24 hours stopover in Muscat, Oman. I’m boarding the flight barefoot – as usual and without the slightest problem. Arriving in Muscat, I’m told that passengers are entitled to stay at the Holiday Inn for free (transfer and meals included!). Leaving my luggage in the room, I’m spending the whole day (from 9:30 am to 8 pm) in Muscat. Exploring Old Muscat with the palace and several forts is interesting, but the real fun starts in Muthra: The harbour and bazaar are waiting for me, a maze of alleys and shops, bustling with vendors, locals and a few foreign tourists. It’s a hot day with temperatures well above 40° C, but I’m used to the South Indian summer – and so are my tough soles! Many shops in Muthra are owned by Indians, Pakistanis or Bangladeshis. They’re a friendly bunch, well-versed in English and always curious to know why I’m wearing no shoes – and how I can possibly stand the hot tarmac! Passing by a cyber-café, I’m invited to rest a while, enjoying the – quite effective – AC. The next 10 minutes or so I’m busy to explain the young owner from North India why it is so much fun to walk barefoot in the streets of Muscat. Soon, the whole staff gathers around us, listening to his translation and asking additional questions… Only 20 minutes later: A fruit- and vegetable vendor from Bangladesh asks me: “How do you manage to be barefoot? It is SO HOT outside! He serves me a Mountain Dew while I’m convincing him that neither the heat nor little pieces of glass etc. are a serious threat for me – not after having spent more than six years on bare soles! He smiles, replying “you’re a tough man” – and wishes me all the best. Some people I meet are so curious that they ask me to show them my ultra-tough soles, and a young lad (chatting with a group of guys in their late teens) even pinches the leather-like skin … It’s a remarkable day, and I experience again what I’ve already noticed countless times: Roaming around barefoot is VERY communicative – and a good way to make new friends!

Here’s another example – a posting I’ve made some time ago:

“Recently I went for some extensive hiking in the Indian Himalayas. I know: Many of you wouldn’t even think about walking barefoot up there! But believe me: It was SO much fun! I didn’t carry any shoes, not even in my backpack. I enjoyed every minute of the trip on my bare soles… The trek to the source of the Ganges river was a special experience: 36 km (18 km one way) of mountain trails, two nights in an open tent… Climbing over countless rocks, wading through ice-cold rivulets… Crossing little patches of snow… Many interesting sensations for my well-trained bare feet! Yes, it’s all about additional sensual experiences – that’s what makes living, travelling and hiking barefoot so special! Feeling the rough granite beneath my soles, crossing a muddy meadow, patches of snow and little streams providing some refreshment… Tired feet are unknown to me, even after many kilometres of brisk hiking! That’s one big advantage of hiking barefoot… And there is the way I experience temperature: Nights are quite chilly up there (the thermometer once dropped to -2 ° C), but during daytime, things change quickly as soon as the first rays of the sun are touching the ground! It’s amazing to be able to FEEL the difference between a shady and sunny section of the trail! What else? There are the “encounters” – with other tourists, with locals, with pilgrims from all-over India… Some funny comments… On the way up to the source of the Ganges, 1 km before reaching the mighty glacier from where the stream origins, I asked a tourist if I was still on the right way. He replied that I’ll reach my destination soon – adding: “If your bare feet are strong enough”! I was spending the night in an open tent together with other hikers. The morning was quite chilly, and while having a cup of chai, a girl from Tel Aviv admired my ability to “stay bare” in the cold! She told me she would love to do the hike barefoot too, and I assured her that after a few weeks of travelling barefoot, she’ll be able to do things like that without ever having to bother about her feet. On my way back I passed a couple in their early 30ies. The husband looked a bit surprised, spotting my tanned bare feet, but his wife gave me a big smile, saying: “Barefoot – that’s great”. Reaching the little town of Gangotri, the sky became more and more cloudy (after three days of almost uninterrupted sunshine), and the next morning it was rainy with temperatures below 10 ° C. Mine where the only pair of bare feet in the whole town (apart from some sadhus!), and I got many comments, both from tourists and Indians: “Where are your shoes?”, “That must be cold”, “You’ll catch a cold” and things like that… More than one shopkeeper desperately tried to sell me a pair of sandals, even following me a few metre out in the rain… I didn’t care, and after 20 to 30 minutes of more or less brisk walking, my well-trained feet managed to adjust to the cold, a healthy reddish complexion and warm feeling assuring me that everything was all right! Only three month later, my leathery soles got exposed to the hot streets of South India! It’s true: Black tarmac can get quite hot on a sunny day. But being an experienced long-time barefooter, I’m even able to stroll around at noon or in the early afternoon without feeling uncomfortable. And obviously, I’m not the only one: Visit Kerala or Tamil Nadu and you’ll see loads of barefoot people in the streets, especially in rural areas but also in the cities! I’ve met people (online, not on the road) trying to convince me that my barefoot lifestyle is actually “offensive” IN THE INDIAN CONTEXT. My habit of walking barefoot is “a sign of disrespect” considering that I’m obviously able to “afford shoes” – that’s how they argue… Well, I can ensure everybody: THAT’S CRAP! Fortunately, freeing their feet from imprisonment isn’t a privilege of the poor! At least in South India… Many people down here CAN afford footwear – buying a pair of flip-flops isn’t a big deal anyway, except you’re virtually penniless – but opt for a barefoot life ‘cause they feel more comfortable, consider the therapeutically aspects (high bp, reflex zones…) or simply don’t see a point in using a few straps of leather or plastic to confine their feet. Let me remind you what M.F. Hussain, India’s celebrated modern painter (a multimillionaire – crorepati!) says about his OWN habit of going barefoot EVERYWHERE: “It started for purely health reasons. As acupressure is great for the feet I opted out of footwear. And as a result even today I can sit for long hours on the floor .It is almost 40 years now that I am barefoot. Earlier people laughed. Now they have accepted me as I am. I even go to Parliament without shoes. In fact in our country removing your footwear is a mark of respect. Be it at home or a place of worship we go in barefoot.” By the way: In India itself I’m hardly encountering ANY negative reaction! People are only curious if they see a foreigner strolling around barefoot. Some ARE concerned, but only because they think I’m not experienced enough! It’s not that difficult to convince them… Makes me remembering an incident in Fort Cochin (Kerala) – an incident you might very well call typical: It was a hot and sunny afternoon and I was exploring downtown Fort Cochin. Seeing my bare feet, an auto rickshaw driver stopped me, asking “isn’t it too hot for you to walk barefoot?”. I said: “No, I’m used to it. I’m always barefoot.” “Your soles must be strong!” (hesitating a moment) “I don’t believe! Show me!” I did and he carefully examined both my forefoot and heel. Feeling the leathery skin of my calloused soles, he smiled, saying: “I think they ARE strong enough!” This wasn’t the first time! Having travelled thousands and thousands of kilometres on India’s dusty roads, many locals asked me to show them my soles, curiously examining the layers of “living leather” and calluses protecting me from almost everything one can encounter! And more than once I’ve been asked for an instant demonstration, mentioning that my soles are so tough that I can even put out a cigarette on them…

Living, hiking and travelling barefoot is an all-round experience and at the same time very communicative! Try it yourself! Free your feet and keep ‘em bare!

This Friday, as part of the Anon Salon 15 Year Anniversary weekend, Anon Salon teams up with Cyberset to create AMBIOTICA - an experiment in social flirtation and cultural stimulation. Ambiotica was first launched with great success at this year's Harmony Festival. Join us for this beta test event of past and future friends. Please invite five of your favorite people to add to this creatively cultivated eclectic mix. Ambiotica is an integral evening, envisioned to serve our shared aspirations for a thriving culture, to focus and amplify the positive intentions and actions that our Bay Area community embodies, all in a carefully crafted environment of art, intellect, and charismatic beings, while interacting our networks of personal and social evolution. It is time.

Earlier generations gathered at Elks Lodges and Masonic Temples to break the ice. Now we are creating this slightly decadent, yet insightful evening of unusual fun and artistic expression without the usual soundtrack of thumping dance music. We are moving to invent a new "private club" where new adventures can unfold and more softly spoken insights can be shared in a more sophisticated lounge environment. Semi-formal attire is requested, men in jackets with fanciful ties, and women in gowns and sexy shoes. This is a chance to dress to the tens and groove in martini-time.

A one night club membership will be one General Jackson ($20), which will include all complimentary cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and the following guest artists.

The excursion begins at 9 pm with a one hour MindMeld of drinks and open conversation surrounding the recent Al Gore film "An Inconvenient Truth" led by Michael Gosney, and joined by Patrick Flanagan (Phy-Sciences - http://www.phisciences.com), Kevin Borque (San Francisco Alliance for Urban Sustainability - http://www.sfuas.org), and you!

At 10 pm Anon DJ KASHIA will lay down some notes for the chit chat dance, and then from 10:30 til 11:30 we welcome the Tribal Jazz Duo, TRAVIS WERNET and SUMIR RAWAL featuring Live Loops, Didjeridoo, Cello, Bansuri Flute, and hummin' vibes.

At 11:30 pm Cyberset artist WELDER will create "ambiosis" until 12:30, providing a chance to experience this exciting new downtempo artist in an intimate setting. That will be followed by the jazz-tastic stylings of Luna Groove's electronica shaman, ALEX THEORY LIVE, a blend of rare groove jazz & electronic breakbeats intertwined with acoustic upright bass, saxophone, sultry vocals, and spoken word poetics until 1:30. Closing the evening with a transcendental voyage by DJ GOZ until 2:30. These nights are not meant to last so late that you miss the next day!

And to create an atmosphere of art and beauty, the photo-collage CD series of DANIEL FURON (Gorgeous Fauxteaux) and FOTOZ BEAUTY FULL by PHANTOMEYE (Joegh Bullock) will occupy 2 out of 3 galleries, the 3rd becoming the series called MASTER PEACE communal paintings on pre-framed blank canvas created as inspirational indulgence towards a future group show! Back by artistic demand, the life-like drawing class with artist/instructor, MICHAEL KNOWLTON with top hat models Ruby and Eroich from 10:30 until 12:30 (materials included), but BYO upon preference.

Surprises and ideas of your own are most welcome, bring something to share, something that excites you, and create a circle of light around yourself to brighten the night! There will be game areas, think tanks, video systems and chill spaces. This is an evening in progress and will evolve with your vision.

love and blessings fellow trance-dancers -

My partner and I are travelling to europe this summer and we're in need of suggestions for good euro trance festivals that have a really positive world/psy conscious vibe! There's so many outdoor dance festivals to choose from and they all look really awesome! Here's what we've found so far from just internet seaches (mostly bigger ones/multi-day but we'd go more for the vibe than the size). Unfortunately, other than hallucinogen (simon pos. i.e. shpongle), we can't tell what kind of vibe it'll be just by reading the artists! It's really hard to compare these because I'm pretty dj illiterate.

Which ones will be less dirty rave thumpa-thumpa and more open-hearted, cool conscious hippie kids with psychedelic art, drumming, contact improv dancing, veggie food, sustainable-leave-no-trace and stuff like that? Which look the best to you? Any advice is welcome!

A conference on the effects of peak oil and the growing global energy
crisis will take place in Washington, DC on May 6th at the All Souls
Church, Unitarian from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. Speakers include popular
peak-oil author Richard Heinberg.

Conference organizer and speaker Jan Lundberg is a former oil industry
analyst who ran the market research firm Lundberg Survey. Lundberg,
who quit serving the oil industry so he could put his knowledge to use to
protect the environment, says "M. King Hubbert, who developed the
theory of peak oil, observed that we do not have an energy crisis but
rather a culture crisis. This fits with the theme of the Washington DC
Culture Change Conference that there is no technofix for our energy
dilemma. Society will have to bring about a closer level of community and
rediscover what local economics are about."

The May 6th Petrocollapse Conference will feature Richard Heinberg,
the most-read peak oil author (The Party's Over, and Powerdown).

USA: becoming a fascist Country!!!

Dang, what a mess. The Big Bankers are doing their job huh, to rule the world?

Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown and Root has been awarded a $385 million dollar contract by Homeland Security for construction of detention and processing facilities to be made ready in the event of a national emergency. Brown and Root has been part of the Skull and Bones nexus since its inception at the turn of last century. Like Halliburton, it has grown fat on blood-money gleaned through decades of perpetual war, including the present conflagration in the Middle East.

If the fascists batten down totalitarian power domestically, Kellogg, Brown and Root will likely profit immensely from the erection and maintenance of such prison camps expected to dot the land of the free if the fascists launch a military takeover.

Homeland Security camps could be bulging at the seams overnight when the U.S. falls under "emergency" military rule. Indeed, the foregoing shows the Bush administration is preparing for this eventuality. The U.S. already has the highest per capita incarceration rate in the world. During martial law, when no one is free to move around at will, just about EVERYONE is under a form of "house" arrest. Americans got a taste of this grim future when, during the 2004 Republican National Convention protests when 1,806 demonstrators were rounded up, imprisoned without charges and kept in filthy conditions for 24 hours or more.

The Real ID Act passed by Congress in December 2005 completely solidified Ellison’s ID plan. This new law establishes a massive, centrally-coordinated federal ID database. It forces all 50 states to spend millions of dollars to update their equipment so that by 2008, all holders of U.S. drivers licenses and state licensed ID cards will have their biometric data and other personal information fed directly into the national data base. Congressman Paul says the new ID cards will likely contain radio frequency identification tracking technology that can be read by scanners at a distance, allowing the governments of U.S., Canada and Mexico to quickly locate any card-bearing American.

National ID cards are only the beginning. America’s fascist police state is demonstrably anxious to ensure that each citizen have his identification number permanently attached to his body. For many years, U.S. intelligence agencies have been working with private corporations and covens of scientists from Princeton University and other enclaves to develop subdermal radio frequency devices that can be injected under the skin of humans for identification purposes. Syringe implantable ID transponders were readied years ago, as illustrated by the prototype fully developed in 1995 by CIA-connected Hughes Aircraft Company.

While many European nations are also setting up electronic identity systems as a foundation for future ID chip implants, it is especially pertinent that ADS has been given a prestigious award for its sinister implant technology by the World Economic Forum (WEF).

WEF is a clique of wealthy corporate and political elitists who dictate global agendas. One of its most famous members is Bill Gates of Microsoft. Gates travels the world spending millions to promote injections for people of Third World nations. ID microchip implants are the mother of all injections. Microsoft recently patented a way to use human skin as a power conduit for electronic devices.

Another is the VeriPay device which carries financial information and is scanned like a debit card. People in Europe are now being implanted with VeriPay chips in order to enter bars and nightclubs.

So far, these kinds of chips are passive. That is, they don’t beam information continuously. Their transponders have to be awakened by a reader. These chips and their scanners pass kilohertz radio-frequency signals back and forth through the skin. The first step to inducing public acceptance of these ID chips, said San Francisco Gate columnist Mark Morford, is getting the public to accept chip implants as beneficial for health. The next step is to make it all fun and commercial and convenient. The third step is "whatever the hell they want."

As injectable ID chips come on line, Homeland Security is paying numerous corporations to develop a national network of object-mounted wireless sensors that will be able to read implanted human chips.

In the Homeland Security state, microchip implants of various kinds will likely become as common as cell phones. Eventually, citizens who refuse to accept identification chips may be denied access to services and benefits by heel-clickers supervising the national ID system. And thus we see how cleverly Americans are being manipulated into this crucible by killers in the White House, and by the most corrupt Congress in history and by the amoral, money-grubbing corporate megalith they all rode in on. In the name of national security and public health—millions of non-discerning citizens will allow themselves to be micro-chipped like dogs, tracked by satellite and stripped of all privacy as they become the virtual slaves of a techno-tyrannical surveillance state.

If we want to know what USA will be like in the near future, we need only look at Tony Blair’s Great Britain—surely the most advanced police state in Europe:

• ID cards with facial scans will soon be compulsory throughout U.K.

• There are over 4 million closed circuit cameras monitoring every move the British people make and all faces caught on camera can be matched with a national data bank.

• British police are carrying hand held DNA kits linked to national data bases for when they test saliva.

• People are being pulled off London trains at random and forced to submit to a full body backscatter X-ray to reveal what they have under their clothes.

• Swipe cards used for transportation and building entry allow police to plot a citizen’s every move on a dot map.

• All moving vehicles in Britain are camera-recorded so that police can analyze, by license number, every journey, and every gas purchase made.

• People and vehicles are being tracked from cell towers with a new technology called "Celldar" (as in radar).

• The British people are reporting grave illnesses from their exposure to thousands of microwave transmitters which make this metastasizing surveillance nightmare possible.

[High-resolution image ] A former employee of Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine told The Epoch Times during a recent interview that the Sujiatun Concentration Camp in China was actually a part of a hospital. The concentration camp has engaged in taking organs from Falun Gong practitioners when they were still alive and selling the organs. Since 2001, the concentration camp has secretly detained approximately 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners, none of whom have been able to leave the camp alive. The hospital removed many kidneys, livers, and corneas from the practitioners. After the organ removal, the practitioners were thrown into an incinerator, which was converted from a boiler. Their ashes were dumped together with burned charcoal.

Organs from Three Quarters of the 6,000 People Were Removed
Those whose organs were removed were in various states of health. Because many of the victims were illegally detained, there was neither an arrest warrant nor identification as to who these people actually were. Often after their organs were removed, nobody claimed the bodies. Sometimes their bodies were picked up by crooks who pretended to be their family members.

About three-quarters of the 6,000 people died after their hearts, kidneys, corneas, or skin was removed; their bodies were then burned. This witness, whose family member participated in the removal of Falun Gong practitioners' organs, said that approximately 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners remain in the hospital. She was afraid that the authorities would kill all of them to destroy evidence.

The Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine is located at 49 Xuesong Road, Sujiatun, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China. It was the first hospital in China to specialize in the heart, the brain, and surrounding blood vessels. The hospital is composed of several organizations, including the Liaoning Traditional Chinese Medicine College Teaching Hospital and the Shenyang Thrombosis Treatment Center.

Concentration Camp Details
The hospital site is 21,087 square meters, with 17,564 square meters of building area. It employs 460 people in 24 departments and 20 specialized offices. Information from the Chinese government shows that the hospital was established in December 1988, and was formerly named the Shenyang Research Institute of Thrombosis and Liaoning Province Thrombosis Treatment Center of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. In June 1998, it was renamed China Traditional Medicine Thrombosis Treatment Center.

The Chinese Business Morning View said in a story on July 4, 2004, that a farm worker died of abnormal causes in Sujiatun, Shenyang and was later cremated. The death certificate was provided by the Chinese Medicine Thrombosis Treatment Center in Sujiatun. The news caused a stir in China.

Questions were posed by the reporter and answered by the staff member being interviewed.

Epoch Times: Did the hospital's medical staff inside the concentration camp know about this?

Answer: This hospital has a small number of officials and some doctors involved secretively in the operation of organ harvesting. Some other staff in the hospital knew about this, but this is absolutely a taboo [to talk about]. They all are afraid of being killed or courting trouble, so they all avoid the issue. Only those highly trusted doctors could be chosen to be the surgeons for organ harvesting operations.

ET: Were Falun Gong practitioners alive when their organs were harvested? Did their families know about this?

Answer: Falun Gong practitioners who were imprisoned there came mostly from Dabei Prison, Masanjia Labor Camp, and other prisons in Shenyang, or they were Falun Gong practitioners arrested in parks or residential homes. Because they refused to denounce Falun Gong, they were arrested without formal warrants, and their families did not know their situation. Many did not even have their names [recorded]. In addition, since the Chinese authority exercises a policy of "not being responsible" for killing Falun Gong practitioners, the death of Falun Gong practitioners is not a very big issue for prisons. The Chinese Communist Party persecutes Falun Gong, [but] these medical personnel were told Falun Gong practitioners were facing death because they killed people, or they were sentenced to death because of crimes, or they had become insane from practicing Falun Gong.

Those Falun Gong practitioners whose organs were harvested came from several types.

Organs harvested from live bodies are worth far more than organs taken from dead bodies. Many Falun Gong practitioners were still alive when their organs were taken. After their organs were cut out, some of these people were thrown directly into the crematorium to be burnt, thus leaving no evidence. For some others, after their organs were stolen, the doctor sewed up the wound and asked the family or family representative to give a signature for cremation. Family members did not know at all that the dead had their organs taken out.

Furthermore, there were some healthy Falun Gong practitioners in prisons in other areas who were injected—without their knowledge—with psychoactive drugs that made their minds confused. They then were transferred to Sujiantun concentration camp to suffer further torture, till in the end their organs were harvested and their bodies were cremated in secret.

Among the Falun Gong practitioners whose organs were harvested, some were weak and some were healthy. Since most of them were illegally arrested, there were no arrest warrants or identification cards. After their organs were taken out while they were still alive, no one came to claim their bodies; or [sometimes] people using fake identities claimed their bodies.

None of these people have come out [of the concentration camp] alive; three-quarters of these 6,000 people have died, having their hearts, kidneys, retinas, and skins harvested and their bodies disposed of. I think now about 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners are still in this hospital, and I am afraid now that the authority will destroy all evidence and kill them.

Question: How did you know these things? Were you yourself a doctor involved in organ harvesting?

Answer: I worked at the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, Shenyang. This is exactly where this concentration camp is located. One of my family members was involved in the operation to harvest Falun Gong practitioners' organs. This has brought great pain to our family.

Question: Please tell us what you knew about.

Answer: From 2001, our hospital started to detain Falun Gong practitioners. At the beginning, these people were detained in the single-storey houses in the back yard of the hospital. Later, the hospital authorities demolished the single-storey houses, and it was unknown where in the hospital the Falun Gong practitioners were transferred. Many staff of the hospital discussed in private that these Falun Gong practitioners had been secretly transferred to the underground chambers of the hospital. According to some people working inside the hospital, the hospital has a huge system of secret underground chambers.

At the time when we went to work there, the person in charge of logistics and purchasing in the hospital said that the quantity of disposable sterile gloves used for operations and daily supplies that the hospital authorities asked to be purchased had increased dramatically. The logistics people estimated based on the scale of purchases at that time that there were at least 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners detained in this hospital.

These Falun Gong practitioners were not detained in the 4-story building under the in-patient department and administration at the front of the hospital, in order to keep the hospital staff from seeing them at all. We only occasionally saw Falun Gong practitioners being sent on a mobile intensive care bed to the first floor for physical examinations. These people were very weak. For the majority of the Falun Gong practitioners, nobody knew where they were being secretly kept. While they still did not know where these people were kept, some staff inquired to the hospital authorities about why so much food and so many sterile gloves and daily supplies were purchased. The hospital authorities said, "You only need to do your job well. There is no need for you to ask any other questions."

Starting in 2001, a family member of mine participated in organ-harvesting operations. My family member tried to keep me from knowing about this at the beginning. The hospital authorities selected doctors they trust in different aspects to perform the secretive operations. After a period of time, I found that my family member was in a lot pain, often had nightmares, and appeared panic-stricken. After repeated inquiries, this family member told me the truth. The leader of the hospital had asked my family member to participate in the organ harvesting operations on Falun Gong practitioners as early as 2001. It was 2003 when my family member confessed. A few years after, my family member felt so much pain from participating in this incident that it was impossible to continue with the evildoing. My family member decided to go abroad to get away from this matter.

My family member also told me: "you don't understand my suffering; those Falun Gong practitioners were alive. It might be easier for me if they were dead, but they were alive."

Question: Were there any other doctors from the hospital taking part in the operations of cutting out Falun Gong practitioners' organs?

Answer: I know there were some. All these things have been carried out secretly. Many doctors at our hospital involved were practicum doctors transferred from other hospitals. Because the government does not want to be responsible for Falun Gong practitioners' bodies and lives, their lives are treated as garbage by the regime, and their bodies were used in experiments by new doctors doing their practitcums.

Many doctors came and left the hospital because they suffered a lot after having been involved in these kinds of things. They either requested to be transferred to other places, or changed their names. Some might have been killed to eliminate the evidence, their identity files were taken out from the hospital's filing system, or their names were changed. Nobody knows where the doctors have gone.

The hospital staff all know that the rear part of the hospital is forbidden. It is always watched. The staff avoids talking about the place.

Question: It is said the hospital is equipped with an incinerator. The person whose organs were removed will be burned when he or she is still alive. Is that true?

Answer: The employees in our hospital call this place "the incinerator." Actually, it is a boiler room. Some poor farmers from nearby places were hired to work in the boiler room. They were penniless when they first came here. But they could scrape up some watches, finger rings, necklaces, and so on. The amount is not small. It is said by the employees in the hospital these jewelry and watches were collected from the Falun Gong practitioners whose organs had been removed when they were about to be thrown in the boiler to be burned. It is also said by the employees in the hospital, some were still alive when being thrown into the boiler.

Question: Do they get injection of anesthetic when in surgery?

Answer: Yes. There is a cap to the anesthetic quantity used in mainland China's hospitals. Generally, the supply of anesthetic was determined according to the accommodation of the hospital. To the public, the number of patients in our care appears to be very small, and publicly reported number of surgical procedures performed is quite low. But the equipment and articles used in surgery are abundant. Because the amount of anesthetic is limited, these secret surgeries could not use the normal anesthetic doses. In order to save anesthetic, they economized on the anesthetic used in surgeries on these Falun Gong practitioners. The amount of anesthetic used was very small. However, many whose organs were removed were still alive. You can imagine the pain suffered by the Falun Gong practitioners whose organs were removed.

Question: Are there any survivors among the 6,000 people detained since 2001?

Answer: Nobody has come out alive. The number of them gets smaller and smaller. The Falun Gong practitioners detained at Sujiatun are fewer now than before. But I believe that the sin of removing the organs of the Falun Gong practitioners is still continuing.

Question: Where are these organs usually sold to? Do the higher authorities in the government know about this?

Answer: They are mainly sold to Thailand, but I believe they are also sold to other regions of the world. Nowadays, there are many patients in China who need human skin, corneas, and kidneys for organ transplant surgeries. Many patients have to wait in line to purchase organs. Currently, a kidney can be sold up to the price of 30,000 to 100,000 U.S. dollars. The profit from selling organs is simply too great. The people who benefit from this are not only the top leaders of hospital and the officials of the Chinese Communist Party's Heath Department. This is a crime present across the entire nation. People ranging from government officials to doctors to organ sellers are all involved in this and are profiting greatly.

Question: Why did they target Falun Gong practitioners as the source of organs?

Answer: Because relatives of many Falun Gong practitioners don't even know that their family members were arrested. So if the Falun Gong practitioners are killed, there will be no one to come and claim their dead bodies.

Question: Why did you want to expose this? This may bring great danger to you.

Answer: I know that there are many Falun Gong practitioners who are currently detained at the hospital. I would like to expose this to the international community, so those who are not yet killed can be saved. Also, I would like to expose this as an atonement for my family.

I am not a Falun Gong practitioner. But as a former staff member of the hospital, I have the responsibility to expose the truth, and let the world to save those Falun Gong practitioners who are still alive. Organs of some Falun Gong practitioners are still living on patients' bodies. I would like to call on all society to pay attention to this issue and stop this shocking crime.

Whole Earth Festival Announces 2006 Music Lineup - Everyone Orchestra to Headline!

The 37th Annual Whole Earth Festival is slated to take place May 12-14, 2006 on the campus of the University of California, Davis in Davis, CA. Realy I could have left after their show and felt like
I had the best festival ever!!!!******%#&^%&*^*%#@*&!!!!!

So PLEASE tell me they are playing agian at Earthdance '06....
and i know there are lots of folks outhere that feel the same way I do
Its been how long and i still talk with people who were rocked that night !
i realy honnor the energy that I recieved during that show a true download of creative force that has continued in my life, giving inspiration to my personal manifestations......
for that magik I give Much thanks.....

Thank you Earthdance for all you do and Thank you most of all for that night with Heavy Weight Dub Champion.. so if my vote counts then I say Yeah!!!! to binging them back agian for an all nighter this year.....

annual boogie festival :: memorial day weekend (may 26-29) :: upstate ny location

37 years ago, a festival began. it started with a group of friends that wanted to gather together and have a good time on memorial day weekend. now its grown to about 200-300 people (all friends of friends of friends, etc.). its pretty lowkey with no commercialization. this year will be my first year attending. my friends and i have decided this year to bring a soundsystem so that we can extend everyones perception of music that much further. we will have turntables and will be mixing drum and bass, acid techno, breaks, whatever anyone decides to bring. we will have open decks so feel free to bring your vinyls.. my friends band will also be playing live jungle, dub, breaks, trance.. also there is a stage so if you are an acoustical musician, thats welcome as well. come and share with everyone who you are. its a camping venue so bring proper equipment (tents, etc).... ill be updating this site with more info about the exact location and times, etc.

no major artists are really expected so dont expect anything of that nature. buttttttttt we are all who we are and that in itself is pure energy. come and experience this reality :)

That's right, I said it. Or at least Bush did in his State of the Union address. The President wants to build more dangerous nuclear plants as part of his new energy plan: http://members.greenpeace.org/action/start.php?action_id=78&ref_source=tribenuke
This plan is wholly inconsistent with the administration's push from stronger security. There have been more than 100 close calls at nuclear power plants since the accident at Three Mile Island in 1979, and each new nuclear plant is one more potential target for terrorist attacks.
